I finished the seat off with a light third coat of stain. After the third rubbed on coat on the legs, I sponged (not brushed) areas on the legs to give an even solid coverage. I was able to maintain the grain on the entire stool right through to the finish. After leaving the stool to cure for a minimum of 5 days, I was rubbed 3 coats of General Finishes High Performance Top Coat in satin finish in ONE DAY!
On the left is a stool in its original store-bought state, waiting for its makeover. On the right, is my beautiful finished stool!
