Teapot #1: I used Plaster Paint Canada's New Surface primer and gave it one coat. This primer is amazing!! A little goes a LONG ways and its bonded, dry, and ready to paint in just 30 minutes!
For the paint, I decided to use Deco Art Chalky Finish paint in the color Treasure. It is a pretty color, isn't it? I received this paint directly from Deco Art in exchange for a blog post. This was my second time using this brand of paint (I haven't yet released the first post using this brand but when I do, I will link it here). I applied it on this teapot in a stippling (pouncing) method as I discovered that is the best way to apply it and thus get even texture all the way around as it WILL leave a texture even when you don't want it to. This paint is available nearly everywhere it seems. It is at Michaels for sure and some local hardware & paint stores.
I let it set for a day or so and then used my favourite top coat to seal it . . . Saman Dead Flat Varnish.
Saman products are currently available only in Canada, as far as I can figure. Locally, in Moncton, NB, they are at your Home Hardware stores, Kent on Trinity, and both Benjamin Moore Paint Shops.
After it sat a day or so to cure, I used Heirloom Traditions White Lime Gel Wax on it. That not only gives the piece depth and extra beauty, but it is also a permanent sealer! I used a mix of sponge brush and damp Bounty sheet to get the look I wanted when applying the gel wax.
